Weston has learned to love the outdoors. He likes to help me water my flowers and spinach, he likes to point out bugs and birds, he likes to look at cars, and he loves to RUN (always away from me, it seems!). He has a particular affinity for the park down the street and he cried large alligator tears last weekend when it was raining and we told him he couldn't go to the park. It just about broke my heart to see him so sad about being stuck inside! He managed to occupy himself for most of the day while Tom and I cleaned, but I caught him sneaking up to the couch to stare out the window longingly on several occasions. I also caught him hanging on the door handle begging, "Outside! Go! Please! Go out!" At one point, he was trying to put shoes on my feet as an indicator that we should go outside. Poor kid.
He hasn't yet figured out that he's going to be afflicted with some major allergies. Between my genes and Tom's genes, the poor kid is doomed. Nevertheless, I'm glad he loves the outdoors and I am looking forward to doing more outdoorsy things with him this summer. I bought him a little bug barn so we can collect bugs and I'm looking forward to lake/beach time.
