Weston's Baptism

It was a very eventful weekend around the Smolensky home. Most of my family traveled to get to our house on Saturday night in order to not have to leave super early to get to Chanhassen for Weston's Baptism this morning. It was nice to have everybody here. The house was definitely cozy with that many people, but it's nice to have my whole family in one place every once in awhile! I also did a lot of cooking/baking yesterday in order to prepare for today's Baptism dinner. When I sliced open the hard boiled eggs for the potato salad, I discovered an egg with two yolks! My first thought was, "Twin chickens? Is this possible?". I decided to do some research and found out that it is indeed possible. It isn't terribly uncommon. Some estimates are 1 in every 1,000 eggs. I'm wondering how I made it 25 + years without having experienced this phenomenon as I am sure I've consumed many more than 1,000 eggs in my lifetime. Anyway, I thought it was kind of cool so I had to take a picture!
I bought a cake decorating kit while I was pregnant. I want to be able to make fun cakes as Weston grows up so I just got myself a starter kit. This was the second time I used it and I thought my cake turned out alright... it wasn't quite as elaborate as what I had envisioned in my head, but I'm sure I'll get better as I do more cakes and collect more styles of frosting squirters (I have no idea what the technical term is- squirters is the best I can come up with at 12:04 a.m.!!!).

After the Baptism, we all headed back to our house to have dinner. Weston got in a lot of time being cuddled by everybody who loves him. I enjoyed cuddling him and smelling the sweet fragrance of the chrism oil. All in all, it was a very nice (albeit exhausting) day. It was great to see everybody and I enjoyed the actual sacrament much more than I thought I would.
Another week is about to start. I can't believe September is practically half over! This is crazy!! I may be going back to work in a few weeks (I'm still waiting to hear back) so I am trying to savor every moment with Weston. Tomorrow I start the daunting task of finding a daycare provider.
Other news- Tom is still very sick. He woke me up at 3:00 a.m. last night because he was so uncomfortable. He ended up having a low grade temperature. He's been sick for 4-5 days now so if we don't notice improvement by the end of the day tomorrow, he's taking a visit to the Dr. I hope he doesn't have strep throat... Weston and I have been avoiding him as much as possible. I even slept on the floor in Weston's room last night to avoid Tom's sicky germs. Here's hoping he feels better in the morning!
