Bug Bites, Bikes, and a Pillow Fort

Believe it or not, Weston's bulging eyelid is the result of a mosquito bite!  Like many members of my family (including me), he gets strong reactions to mosquito bites.  This is exacerbated by the fact that the bite occurred on his eyelid where the skin is much much thinner and more prone to swelling.  If the daycare lady hadn't witnessed the mosquito biting him firsthand, I never would have believed that this damage was from a mosquito. She actually called me at work to warn me because his eye started swelling up and she didn't want me to be shocked when I picked him up. Even though she prepared me, I was still shocked! I thought for sure it must have been some other type of insect.  But she swore  she saw the mosquito and even hit it off his face and that he didn't cry or anything so it was definitely not from a bee or wasp.
Our pharmacist said it isn't uncommon for young children to have reactions like this to mosquito bites on the eyelid, especially when coupled with Weston's predisposition to allergies. That made me feel a lot better.
The swollen eye didn't seem to bother him much except for the few hours where his eye was swollen shut and he couldn't see.  He was his normal, happy self.  It was so sad to me to look at his poor little face but he didn't seem to mind and he was back to normal within a few days.
Weston and I snuggling in our PJs while we watch a movie.  He's obsessed with Disney's "Brother Bear" right now. He's always asking, "DVD Bear? Please? Bears?".
We got bikes! I love bike riding.  It's one of my preferred ways to exercise.  Our city is full of great trails and I've been wanting to explore them for a long time.  May happens to be one of the two months each year where Tom and I each get an extra paycheck so we had some extra money in our budget for the month, plus we both have our birthdays in May so we rationalized our way into splurging.  We decided to call this splurge my birthday present/Tom's birthday present/my Mothers Day gift/Tom's Fathers Day gift/Weston's Birthday present. Target had bikes on sale for $94.00 which is super cheap in the world of bikes, so we ended up getting two men's bikes.  I think I'm woman enough to handle a man's bike :0.  The least expensive trailer we could find was at Wal-Mart and we think we got a pretty good deal. We took our debut ride last Saturday!  I LOVED it, Tom was indifferent, and Weston was speechless (still not sure if this is good or bad).  I couldn't get Weston to keep his helmet on so we're going to have to work on that.  I'm excited to hit the trails again!

Weston decided to take all the throw pillows and make a big pile.  He spent the day louging around in his pillow fort.

Weston's birthday is this Sunday!  I'm so excited to celebrate two years of life with this happy little boy!
