A Reptilian Adventure

On one of the hottest days last week, I found a poor turtle beached in our driveway. We live near several ponds and we aren't too far from the river but I wasn't convinced that this guy could make it back before suffering from a heat stroke so I took it upon myself to escort him back to water. Here he is, looking at me lovingly because he knows I am saving him from an awful death.

Here I am, setting him free after a short walk to the pond.

You're free, my little friend!

I've always liked toads and turtles and, well, pretty much all types of creatures. Tom said he didn't know when he married me that I was a "closet environmentalist" and he told me that I have an inner hippie that he catches glimpses of every now and then. I suppose both of those observations are true. I could totally get into being a hippie....minus all the drugs and the random sex! I hope Weston inherits my love for nature and creatures. We're going to have so much fun collecting toads together in a couple of years!
