Hang On To Your Pants......

....because I have a lot of pictures to post. I took a two week hiatus from blogging because we have been busy doing summery things like going for walks, attending concerts in the park, going to weddings of family members and friends, spending time at the lake and celebrating Independence day. It's been a pretty wonderful couple of weeks.

Attending a park concert

Weston found a caterpillar friend at the park. He pet it gently at first but then he picked it up in his tiny pincer grasp and squished the poor thing. I guess the words ' be gentle' don't really apply to toddlers!

"Hi Mom!"

This is the face of a child who is completely engrossed in a Baby Einstein video. He loves the DVD and it's a lifesaver for me when I need to keep him busy while I am doing something that requires two hands-like dishes. I'm getting rather good at one-arm-living but there are some tasks that will always require two hands.

Noodle butt. This is what dinner time has turned into lately. He knows how to wriggle himself out of his high chair and he knows how to remove his bib. Consequently, we deal with big messes. Oh-and notice that he is standing?? He took three steps yesterday!

"I love Daddy"

Sleeping in the car

So many baseballs, so little time.

Living the summer life.

Hanging out in Grandma's garden. We were checking out the damage around the house because Marshall got hit with a really bad storm last Friday. The mayor even declared a state of emergency for the city. We spent part of the weekend driving around town looking at all the damage. There were SO MANY trees in streets, in yards, and on houses. Houses were missing shingles, houses looked like they had been shot up in a Western gun brawl because the high wind speeds drove hail right through the siding on most homes. There were chunks of sheet metal crumpled in fields, and broken windows all over town. Telephone poles and light poles were down all around town and signs were broken and missing at a lot of businesses. Trees were upturned EVERYwhere leaving cracked sidewalks and even upturned gravestones in their path. The doors blew right off the Wal-Mart, leaving a gaping hole for all the driving rain and hail to enter the building. My parents fared pretty well, all things considered. They live on the newer side of town where the trees are not large yet, so they didn't get a lot of tree damage. They did have dents in the siding, holes in screens, and a broken window. My mom said she had to try three different ways to get home from work on Friday because trees were blocking many streets. Many of the area towns were without power for Friday night and all of Saturday.
It was a pretty impressive storm! I'll see if I can find some pictures for my next blog post.

More garden fun.

Hanging out at the lake.

Pool time!

On the boat.

Eric and Ashley

He fell asleep on his first boat ride.

Grandpa and Weston at the lake.

Having fun in the bouncy house at the lake! He had a blast.

We attended a fireworks show on Sunday night at the area casino. I was nervous about how Weston would do but he did fine. He was interested but not excited. Happy Independence Day!
