Pregnancy Update

I haven't been very good about taking pictures lately.  I took a picture around 27 weeks and tried to get a few tonight to show the difference a month has made.  I am now 31 weeks pregnant.  I'm still feeling really great! I had a gestational diabetes scare when I failed my initial blood sugar test.  I was asked to take the more in depth 3 hour test where they draw your blood four times to see how your body metabolizes a sugary beverage.  I passed all four of those blood draws so my Dr. didn't seem concerned about me making any dietary changes.... so, I haven't! Other than a few minor gall bladder attacks, this pregnancy has been pretty easy so far.  My biggest complaints are heartburn, round ligament pain, and leg cramps.

I can't believe how vastly different I feel in this 2nd pregnancy.  I felt absolutely AWFUL with Weston. Pre-eclampsia brought on terrible headaches, swelling, visual disturbances, stomach pain, and a whole host of other discomforts. It was terrible. I didn't even realize how bad I felt with that pregnancy until I experienced a normal pregnancy! This time around, I feel like a totally different person.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything continues to go well and that pre-eclampsia doesn't rear its ugly head any time soon (or at all).  I am at an increased risk for having it again since I had it with my first pregnancy.  The Dr. thinks my risk for developing it again is somewhere between 30 and 50 percent. Tom and I have been going to the gym regularly and I have been stretching which has helped me feel a lot more mobile this time time around.  I hear swimming is great for the last chunk of pregnancy so I'm considering doing some laps at the community center. However, the thought of being seen in a swimsuit right now is somewhat frightening!

27 weeks

31 weeks (And yes, I am wearing snowflake pants in July.  Any sense of fashion that I may have had has completely disappeared.  Comfort is a priority these days!)
31 weeks front view.  I'm very, very round.

I'm getting more and more excited to meet this little guy.  He's very active right now so I get to feel him kick and flip all day (and night).  We haven't really gotten any of the baby supplies ready yet.  Everything from Weston's baby days is still in storage.  However, I have purchased a couple of new outfits for the baby and have them hanging in Weston's closet.   They look so tiny next to Weston's clothes. Speaking of the big brother, Weston still thinks that my belly button is the baby. I'm going to have some explaining to do when the baby arrives and my belly button is still attached to my body.

If I was betting on when this baby will make his debut, I'd say September 9th.  But that's just a guess. After having  Weston three weeks early, I can't comprehend making it all the way to my due date.  September 14th is the official due date but I wouldn't mind being in labor on, say, Labor day.  That would suit me just fine :)
