This past weekend was the 2nd annual Honetschlager Apple Pie Baking Day. Those that could make it gathered at my Uncle's house to get our peel on. Uncle David has an apple tree and he had a whole refrigerator full of picked apples waiting for us. Those present included My mom, my sister Lora, my Aunt Anne, my cousin Janet, Janet's daughter Brynlee, and Weston. Weston's not a lady, but he was too little do go pheasant hunting with the guys, so he tagged along with us and munched on apples all morning. We even had a chance to pick up my grandma from the nursing home and spend time with her. She peeled those apples like a pro. She couldn't hear half of what we were saying, but you could tell she was happy just to be with us and be baking apple pies. She seemed to be in good spirits which was really great to see. In the end, our efforts yielded 12 scrumptious apple pies and plenty of bagged apples for each of us to take home to our freezers.
