He (kind of) Stands!!!

We have newsworthy items this week. First off, Weston has learned how to pull himself into a standing position by pulling up on objects around the house. The first time I saw it, I stopped, completely dumbfounded. I wasn't expecting to see such a sight! I ran to fetch the camera but before I could capture the magical moment, he had fallen and managed to hit his head on the way down. Not to worry though- he was fine AND the week brought a couple more photo ops of him 'standing'.

Our other not nearly as exciting news is that our car is in the shop. Tom was supposed to come home from work at a decent time on Wednesday so I could go to book club but pretty soon 7 p.m. had rolled around and I still hadn't heard from him. The doorbell rang at 7:30. It was Thomas, being dropped off by his boss, reporting that the car had been left behind in the work parking lot because he couldn't get it to turn. We carpooled to work on Thursday and Friday and our Friday night was spent stopping to fill the car with power steering fluid and driving it slowly to the shop. Luckily, the diagnosis ended up being minor enough that we decided to fork over the money and keep the car. We know one of these days we aren't going to be so lucky and old blue is going to bite the dust for good. For now though, we've only got a couple more months before we can claim that the car has survived another Minnesota winter.

After all his trips to warmer climates, Tom has informed me that cars from the '80s are still alive and well in the south because they don't have to deal with the harsh weather conditions that we face here. I'm pretty sure the only thing keeping me anchored in this state is the fact that all my family members and friends are here. If there was some way I could pick up my little world and all the people in it and move to.... oh, maybe Missouri (or somewhere at least three states south), I would!

My boys

He's got boogies coming out of his nose and crackers mashed to his face but I still think he's pretty darn cute! Oh- and he turned 8 months old this week!

Bath time! Wasn't it just a short while ago that he despised baths? He used to scream and scream some more when I bathed him and now he likes to splash around and grab his rubber duckies (and other things-he seems to have discovered that he has boy parts...). At any rate, bath time is much more fun now :)

Rubber ducky-you're the one. You make bath time so much fun!

"Trouble?Me? You must be mistaking me for some other baby!"

Fluffy post-bath hair.

On a side note, I'm really liking my job so far. The people are really nice and I am starting to feel competent with the job functions. I think this one might be a winner-knock on wood.... or, knock on cheapo Wal-Mart particle board, as it would be :)
